Why use Emerald Shield's categorized domains?

Porn sites and other expired domain sales locations often target domains that are contained in the DMOZ because they know they will get traffic.

Our domain categories currently have 1,960,620 domains (Jan 2008) in our whitelisted categories and 1,456,540 domains (May 2006) in our blacklisted categories.

We crawl over 125,000 domains per day.  Many of these domains are recently parked. 

The parked domain companies know that any site will get some traffic so they purchase them hoping to trick people.  Many of these are Domain Kiting - they are never paid for and are rapidly dropped.  The parked domain will be released after four days, or registered if they start making money.

Many users will click on a link on the parked domain rather than pressing the back button in their browser.  This generates revenue for the parked domain companies. We have a database over more than 11 million expired or currently unused domains.

Our lists are updated every 15 minutes to our partners.  We collect domains from spam traps, and actual customer surfing logs.  If a customer visits a site we have never seen before it is automatically added to the queue for crawling.  This helps ensure we have a constant fresh list of sites.
